More efficient freezers

Special from Bottom Line/Personal
February 15, 2000

F ill your freezer with gallon jugs of water instead of leaving it only partly full. A full freezer turns on less often and costs less to run.

In case of a power outage, the frozen jugs will keep the freezer cold longer and prevent food from spoiling. When you need more space for frozen foods, take out a jug.

Caution: Leave room at the top of jugs when filling them. Water expands as it freezes and will crack a too-full jug.
